Blogging About Breast Cancer
My “Personal Promise” to stop the destruction and devastation caused by breast cancer?
Blogging…
Blogging about breast cancer, my diagnosis, and how I cope – all of which helps other women who have breast cancer.
I have been blogging personally about my diagnosis since it began in 2005. Aside from keeping my personal blog – Cancer is NOT a DEATH sentence, I also blog on “Trusera”, as well as answer questions about breast cancer on “My Breast Cancer Network”.
I have found that sharing my journey helps other women cope with their diagnosis, fears, and pain, which is a way for me to give back. I dedicate my free time to helping others understand breast cancer, their diagnosis, how to live with it and survive it. I also make it a point every single day to “click” to help fund free mammograms for women in need.
My goal is not only to help others, but to inspire them and to bring awareness to the disease.
I believe that if you inspire one person, then they will be compelled to inspire another and so on and so forth. I find through the many comments, emails, and messages I receive that I am slowly achieving those goals if even only on a small scale.
Through my blog, I have formed bonds with so many others who are or have been in the same boat as me. I’m hoping that through my continuing efforts and future goals that I will reach and inspire larger audiences and help create more awareness.
I want every mother, daughter, sister and friend to know that breast cancer can strike anyone – it holds no prejudice.
Breast cancer is not “an old lady” disease – and anybody saying otherwise should take a good look around. I was only 31 when originally diagnosed – 34 when I learned I had it again despite surgery and treatment.
Women are being diagnosed younger and younger each year. I want people to learn from me – to know that
breast cancer is not the death sentence people once thought it was.
If detected early, breast cancer is very survivable…… you can beat it! The best thing a woman can do is get to know her breast, and know them well. It is your body, and no one should know it better than you.
Sometimes that means becoming your own self advocate. Educate yourself; equip yourself with the best, most referred doctor, and be proactive when it comes to your health. You’ll be glad you did!
