Ginger Steak Salad

This salad is amazing!!

I was browsing the web a couple of days ago and I just happened to stumble onto The Pioneer Woman’s website. As I was looking through everything I saw this recipe and it looked amazing so we decided to try and it was a success!!

Here are the benefits of eating this salad.

Tomatoes:

The red pigment contained in tomatoes is called lycopene. This compound appears to act as an antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals that can damage cells in the body. Only recently, studies have revealed that lycopene may have twice the punch of another well-known antioxidant betacarotene.

Ginger:

Ginger is known to have the ability to calm an upset stomach and to promote the flow of bile. Stomach cramps can be eased and circulation can also be improved. Ginger supports a healthy cardiovascular system by making platelets less sticky which in turn reduces circulatory problems.

Red Meat:

High in zinc, which is important for a healthy immune system, Contains more iron than most foods, and it is more easily used by the body than iron from other sources. Also a good source of other vitamins and minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, selenium and b vitamins. Excellent source of complete proteins
A high-protein diet based on lean red meat has been shown to help weight loss

Salad Greens:

Green leaves are nutrient rich because they contain the light-catching, energy-converting machinery of plants. Salad greens contain Vitamin A, Vitamin C, beta-carotene, calcium, folate, fiber, and phytonutrients. Many of the health benefits that leafy greens provide come from phytonutrients, unique compounds that provide protection for plants. Phytonutrients can act as antioxidants, which help to prevent chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease.

Aroma factor:

You can hardly tell you are cooking, because most of this recipe is choppy, dicey. When you do cook the meat on the skillet you get a sweet, garlicky smell. The smell of a yummy delicious meal coming your way! On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the strongest I would have to say 4. It also leaves a lingering Asian smell to the house that is if all your windows are closed and there is no fan running.

Ingredients for steak marinade:

2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sherry
2 garlic cloves, minced or buy already minced garlic
1/2 jalapeno De-seeded
2 teaspoon brown sugar
1 NY strip

Mince garlic or buy and place in large zip-loc baggy

De-seed jalapeno and add to baggy

Add soy sauce, sherry and brown sugar add to baggy with steak

Marinate for 30 minutes up to 2 hours

Ingredients for salad dressing:

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 garlic gloves minced or buy already minced
1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger
1 bunch green onions (used to top salad)

Mince garlic and add to empty bowl

Skin ginger and mince. add to bowl with garlic

Juice lime or buy juice at store. add to bowl

Add olive oil, soy sauce, and sugar

Stir and place in fridge

Now that your meat has marinated to your desired time, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in hot skillet and cook meat to your desired temperature. I cooked my steaks about 5 minutes on each side. (it was a thick cut)

Place cooked steak on plate to let cool for a few minutes. While the meat is cooling mix some of the dressing into the salad greens and mix.

Cut tomatoes

Cut green onions and set aside for now

Place salad greens on plate with tomatoes and slice steak to put on salad. top with green onions

Now don’t let those juices from the plate go to waste. Pour juice over meat on salad and enjoy!!

I SPY: I spy something that is shaped like a heart in one of my pictures. Can you find it?
