Balsamic Marinated Steak with Grilled Lemon and Garlic Asparagus

This is another great recipe to add to your cookbook at home. A perfectly cooked steak is always on the list of things to enjoy during the summer, but add in a balsamic marinade and some lemon and garlic brushed asparagus and it will surely please your taste buds! So, crank up the grill and Let’s get cookin’!

A Few Quick Nutrition facts:

Red meat: Red meat is high in Zinc, which is important for a healthy immune system. It contains more iron than most foods, and it is more easily used by the body than iron from other sources. Also a good source of other vitamins and minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, selenium and b vitamins. It is an excellent source of complete proteins.A high-protein diet based on lean red meat has been shown to help weight loss.

Balsamic Vinegar: Balsamic can help boost the activity of the digestive enzyme pepsin thus improving metabolism. It also may help control diabetes. Study suggests that by adding as little as five teaspoons of the vinegar with a meal can improve insulin sensitivity. Balsamic antioxidant may slow the aging process, and reduces the frequency of headaches.Balsamic contains important minerals that can strengthen the bones.Balsamic can help prevent anemia and fatigue.

Asparagus: Asparagus has detoxifying and diuretic effects. Their fibers help us clean out our gastrointestinal tract. They also help the body get rid of the excess water. Asparagus also contains the phytochemical glutathione, which has antioxidant and anti carcinogenic properties. 

Ingredients for marinade:
2 or 3 sirloin steaks
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup light soy sauce
2 tablespoons garlic
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup very finely chopped
pinch of cayenne

Ingredients for Asparagus:
1 pound asparagus
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon paprika
salt and pepper

Prep for marinade:

-Measure out liquids and add to mixing bowl
-Add pepper 

Finely mince onion and add to bowl

Mince garlic and add to bowl 

Pour marinade over steaks, cover and place in fridge for 1 hour

While steak is marinating, you can start on the prep for the asparagus. That way you can cook them at the same time

Prep for Asparagus:

-Trim off the thick bottom end of asparagus
-Mince garlic and place in small bowl

Add oil and paprika 

Zest lemon, add to bowl 

Lay asparagus side by side and pierce metal scewer through the middle to create a raft 

Place steaks on grill and cook to your desired doneness. here is a guide to help you:

Temperature(F)
140 Rare
150 Medium Rare
160 Medium
165 Medium Well
170 Well

Place rafts on grill and brush with oil mixture. 

Cook to your desired tenderness and salt and pepper on plate
