Eric... I think that is a great philosophy... thinking about giving everyday. While I run a non-profit and often count on those that are "one hit" donors, it would be great to have others thinking and doing on behalf of a cause more than one time a year...and I might add, especially grassroots efforts. Often times the same dollars go to the same BIG orgs because no one takes the time to do a bit of looking around to help those in the grass where the impact of their donation, large or small, usually means so much more.

I hope that your wife will get the best treatment and have a speedy recovery and commend you on your charitable efforts ;-)

Good thoughts.

It's funny I was just saying that people ask me why I don't participate in charity fundraisers or Avon walks, etc. Well the truth of the matter is while I am openly a proponent of raising awareness of the need for more research and better awareness, I still am frugal with how I donate my money.

I think everyone is different. I personally choose to fight a daily fight, not just a 3-day walk fight, to raise my own money for donations in my wife's name to the hospital and foundation that treats my wife.

Not saying my way is the right way, but I do believe a positive perspective and a proactive perspective is the best way to beat this in the long run. While running is great for my own health when I run and commit personally to contribute $0.50 for each half mile, I know that this run means more than just burning fat. It means that I am committed to a solution that I am faced with every day for the rest of my life.
