1 in 8 Project
Fight Pink–July 30, 2010–Timothi Jane Graham was born and raised in New York City. She has spent the last ten years of her life working as a portrait artist with an emphasis on photojournalism. Her unique portraits of women in the Hindu world have won rave reviews and many accolades. Timothi, a survivor of cervical cancer wanted to develop a project that explores a handful of breast cancer survivors, and their journey. One in eight women in the world will develop breast cancer, some statistics show that One in five women world wide will develop the disease.
The 1 in 8 Project is an exploration of a handful of breast cancer survivors stories through images and words. Every woman chosen for the project will be photographed and interviewed by Timothi. The interviews will be audio taped and sound bytes will accompany each large format image when it is presented as a gallery piece. As a book, quotes from the interviews will be placed alongside the images. Sometimes soulful, sometime sexy and sometimes just plain in your face, these remarkable portraits, captured by photographer Timothi Jane Graham, invite you to share in the spirit of each woman as we raise awareness and celebrate their journeys.
Breast cancer survivor and founder of Fight Pink, Stacy Martello, will be included in the 1in8 project, and is “more than honored to share my portrait to help raise awareness, and to inspire women who have been affected by Breast cancer to know no matter what their Breast Cancer journey, they are amazingly beautiful!”
Proceeds will go to breast cancer research with an emphasis on holistic modalities.
