Guide for Newly Diagnosed
LAS VEGAS- April 21, 2009–Yesterday, Fight Pink participated in the Living Beyond Breast Cancers teleconference on Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: Treatment Update and Tools for Healthy Living. Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to empower all women affected by breast cancer to live as long as possible with the best quality of life. They have put together a great guide for Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancers.
We find that the more we unite and share stories, as well as information the more we are able to spread the word. This guide will give you an idea of what to expect…today, tomorrow and beyond. Steps for coping with the medical, emotional and practical concerns of breast cancer.
LBBC released an updated edition of theri brochure for women recently diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. This brochure will help you understand the biology of breast cancer, the choices you face, the questions to ask to make informed decisions and the support available to you.
The Guide for the Newly Diagnosed explores the medical, emotional and practical issues you may face in the first few months after you learn you have breast cancer. Written with guidance from health care professionals and women affected by breast cancer, this 50-page guide contains clear and helpful information about testing, treatment, side effects, support services and emotional concerns.
The guide is divided into six sections focusing on coping with the news, information you need immediately, treatment basics, support to get you through tomorrow, moving toward the future and resources for finding additional information and support. Interspersed are lists you can use to talk with those who care for you, including “10 Questions to Ask Your Doctor About Treatment,” “10 Common Feelings and Fears at Diagnosis,” “10 Questions to Ask Your Doctor About Your Pathology Report” and “10 Tips on Getting Good Support.”
We are pleased to offer LBBC’s Guide for the Newly Diagnosed free to women coping with breast cancer and to the health care professionals who care for you. The printed version of the guide will be available in May. We invite you to download a PDF or to order copies for you from the LBBC site or through Fight Pink.
