Breast Cancer Treatment – Beyond Chemo Event

We are pleased to announce the following “3rd Night with the Experts Series” presentation taking place tomorrow night, Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Nevada Cancer Institute.

Dr. Karen Milligan, Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI) breast cancer oncologist (pictured to the left), will present a FREE community forum on survivorship issues for breast cancer patients.

About Dr. Karen Milligan

Dr. Milligan joined NVCI from the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina where she is a fellow of Hematology/Oncology. She earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Dr. Milligan was an internal medicine resident for the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina and also served as chief medial resident and clinical assistant professor at the Brody School of Medicine.

She has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including the Eugene Furth, M.D., Award for Most Outstanding Senior Resident in 2003, the Sir William Osler Award for Best Senior Resident in Cardiology in 2002 and was selected as Chief Resident of the Department of Internal Medicine in 2001.

Her ongoing research includes focuses in breast cancer, clinical trials and minority women, and types of leukemia induction therapy. Dr. Milligan is a seasoned speaker and a strong communicator in the field of breast cancer oncology.

What Will the Fight Pink™ Team be Doing?

Members of our Fight Pink™ team (pictured to the right), will be attending the event and Stacy, Yolie and Lori will be available to speak to some of the attendees about Fight Pink™ and some of our future ideas and plans.

This is will also be an excellent opportunity for our team to network and listen to the following three experts:

  • Amy Patton – NVCI Nutritionist
  • Margo Otto – Licensed Social Worker
  • Hilary Meade – Wellness Expert

Between them, they will discuss the topics of nutrition as well as emotional and physical wellness.
